Ravichandran Ashwin, started his career as an opening batsman and thank god that he dropped the idea of continuing as a batsman because if that would have been the case, India would not have got such a fine off-spin bowler. Ashwin proved himself in International cricket by taking fastest 50 wickets and 100 wickets in Tests for India. He plays for Tamil Nadu in domestic cricket and the Rising Pune Super Giants in the IPL.
Ashwin was being criticized for only performing in sub continental conditions but then he proved his mettle and now enjoys the number 2 and 1 rank in Test bowlers and All-rounders list respectively. Skipper MS Dhoni can be thanked for introducing such a wonderful all-rounder to Indian cricket. He also has a couple of centuries to his name and over a thousand runs at a decent average.
